The extended heat exchanger term also steps down on the 92% and non-ENERGY STAR 95% N-series models (N92MSN and N95MSU), where it's 20 years rather than lifetime.

All extended-term coverage — the 10-year parts, lifetime heat exchanger, and any unit replacement coverage — is contingent on registering the furnace within 90 days of installation. Miss that window and coverage drops to the base 5-year parts and 20-year heat exchanger terms, which is a meaningful downgrade.
